Jump in the car man!

Hello, my name is Douglas Hubler and I'm a new hire at Aquia, official title: Propellerhead.

Jay Batson found me wandering the open source streets holding a sign reading "Will code for karma points". Six months prior I was project leader for an open source, VoIP management system. I was employed at the time for Pingtel and that's where I met Jay. I eventually left the project in the hands of someone much more capable than myself. I then killed time consulting secretly pining for my next OSS adventure.

My OSS introduction was in 1995 when a colleague of mine spent 3 hours editing my /etc/X11/xorg.conf to get slackware running on my PentiumPro 200MHz. I watched helplessly as my monitor emitted pops, clicks and noises only dogs could hear until finally I saw the X login prompt. Whaoh!

I've worked w/engineers at Microsoft, Novell and Apple regarding integrating document translation into their office products - consulted for many years learning java, RDBMS, OOP along the way - consulted for a large scale dot coms - bought a log cabin in Aroostook County, Maine on a quest for writing the perfect code - moved back to Boston and discovered Test Driven Development and realizing perfect code is unattainable and at best fleeting, agile code is everlasting.

So Jay bought me a hot meal at a local Thai restaurant and brought this guy named Dries. Dries began to described how large the Drupal community is. I thought "Dries left his computer for 30 minutes to talk to me? He's gotta get back and answer some emails! Why is he so relaxed?". Then as I looked through the mailing lists and saw how many experienced leaders there are in the community, I realized why Drupal has become so successful and I knew I wanted a chance to be a part of it.

My interests include my family, agile development, linux, playing hockey, birding, talking about linux, VoIP, web development, test driven development, virtualization, agile development, removing dead code and anything running linux.

e-mail me about TDD, rare bird sightings or whatever you want... or better yet find me lurking at Drupalcon Boston.

Welcome to the family

Welcome to the family Douglas. I'm also an avid Drupal and Joomla buff but I'm not as lucky as you to have a full-time job dealing with Drupal :(

Looking forward to interacting with you.

Welcome Douglas. It's a

Welcome Douglas. It's a pleasure for us to have you in the Acquia and the Drupal community.

Dries is quite a friendly guy form what I've read over at his personal blog, must have been quite a shock actually meeting with him face-to-face.
