I am very excited to announce our first webinar for Drupal Gardens Beta. On Thursday, January 28th at 1 pm EST, Acquia will be demonstrating Drupal Gardens and walking through the major features of Gardens. Last week, I was able to contribute an advice column to Media Posts’ Online Media Daily. In it I talk about what media companies, and specifically media marketers, need to do to take their websites to the next level. At the end of the day it comes down to knowing your audience and building a site that keeps your audience engaged and ultimately serve as your brand’s ambassador. Here are the tips I shared. Yesterday I gave a keynote presentation at the Digital Marketing First 09 trade show in Brussels, Belgium. Drupal was out in full force with four Belgian companies joining forces to make the conference a special Drupal-themed event. There were also a number of other companies present who are using Drupal.
Acquia's Jeff Whatcott will join Mike Gauthier, Founder and CEO, e-tractions; Aaron Strout, Vice President of New Media, Mzinga; Dean Whitney, President, Garfield Group Interactive, and others in a panel discussion on the vendor landscape and strategies organizations are using in approaching the technology behind social networking and social media as marketing tools.

This week we sponsored and attended the Enterprise 2.0 Conference here in Boston. It was a useful week that produced several interesting insights about how Web 2.0 patterns are being applied inside large organizations.
Today I participated in the Sigma Partners VP of Marketing Summit for their portfolio companies. Roger Krakoff asked Gitti Crowley of HiWired and I to lead a discussion about online marketing best practices. Sandro Groganz has an interesting post where he attempts to calculate the value of the MySQL brand as a component of the acquisition price Sun paid. Here's the punch line: "As of today, a whopping 85% of MySQL’s economic value added can be attributed to its strong Open Source brand." I haven't checked Sandro's math in detail, but it's clear that brand is a huge component of the value of MySQL."
