Acquia Search Configuration - Content Bias Settings

Content bias settings tab

(?q=admin/settings/apachesolr/node-types)

What is search bias? - On this tab, you can give "bias" to certain properties. This influences their importance in search results. Any value except "ignore" increases that aspect's score in the results. The higher the score, the higher those results will appear in search results.

Result biasing - bias by node properties

  • Property bias - Any value except 'Ignore' in the drop-downs shown below will increase the score of the given node characteristic(s) when calculating search results.
  • How bias affects search results - Nodes whose "boosted" characteristic(s) better match the search query will appear before other nodes with an otherwise similar search relevancy.
  • Ignore - "Ignore" simply means no added bias towards a given property in search results. If all properties are set to "Ignore", nothing will skew the search results.

Type biasing and exclusion - biasing by content type

  • Type bias - Any value except 'Ignore' in the drop-downs shown below will increase the score of the given content type(s) when calculating search results.
  • How bias affects search results - The "boosted" content type(s) will then appear before other content types with an otherwise similar search relevancy.
  • Ignore - If all content types are set to "Ignore", nothing will skew the search results.

Type exclusion

Content types selected here will not be indexed and therefore will not appear in search results.

Note: indexing lag - If you choose to add one or more content types to the index (by unselecting its checkbox), they will be added to your site's search index in subsequent cron runs. Depending on the number of nodes and your indexing settings, this process will take some time to complete.
