Acquia Drupal stack installer hangs

i am at the step where it says
"installing Acquia Drupal Stack"
"Running post instal script. This may take a couple of minutes"

however it's been more than 30 minutes... i need to also disclose that I had to re-install... so maybe that's why it's doing this.

Hello Pablo,

I see your post is dated 18 Dec, just want to confirm that you're using the latest stack installer from December 17, 2009, Version 1.2.20.

I have completed a fresh install on Windows Vista Home and could not replicate this error on installation. What version of Windows are you running?

Did you stop the process and attempt another reinstall?

Please attach your error logs to your reply. To see how to do this visit:

I had the same problem

Posted on January 4, 2010 - 7:28am by Dominik GOLDSCHMIDT.

I had the same problem installing version 1.2.20 on Windows XP Home SP3 (french).
After looking into the log files I found this in piscript.log :

[11:55:19] Apache pid:1736
[11:55:19] Exec:taskkill /F /T /PID 1736
[11:55:19] Exec result:1
[11:55:19] Exec stdout:
[11:55:19] Exec stderr:'taskkill' n'est pas reconnu en tant que commande interne
ou externe, un programme ex‚cutable ou un fichier de commandes.

For some reason the file taskkill.exe doesn't exist on my system.
I copied taskkill.exe from another system into my system's c:\WINDOWS\system32. After rebooting and relaunching the installer Acquia installed properly.

Best regards
Dominik

Where can I locate taskkill.exe? I get sam issue but am not sure where to locate

Thanks for the reply

Thanks for the reply Heather... I am good with the installation but still unclear about the benefit of the acquia stack, except for being able to work off-line... a nice one... but is there a way to easily post your updated files to the remote server, to the actual site?

Posted on January 5, 2010 - 6:30am by Stephan Whyte.

Hey,

I am using Windows XP home edition SP3, with Acquia Drupal 1.2.20 (Drupal 6.15 core)

I too am left waiting on the "Running post instal script. This may take a couple of minutes"

I cannot see any attach option on this post to attach the piscript file.

The last lines of it are:
Exec:mysqladmin.exe --defaults-file="C:\Program Files\acquia-drupal2\mysql\my.cnf" shutdown [cwd:C:\Program Files\acquia-drupal2\mysql\bin]
[22:09:41] Exec result:0
[22:09:41] Exec stdout:
[22:09:41] Exec stderr:
[22:09:41] Stop Apache
[22:09:41] Apache pid:2768
[22:09:41] Exec:taskkill /F /T /PID 2768
[22:09:42] Exec result:1
[22:09:42] Exec stdout:
[22:09:42] Exec stderr:'taskkill' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

[22:09:42] Post install script completed successfully

Dominik GOLDSCHMIDT mentions above that this is solved by getting the 'taskkill.exe' from another system, Im not sure where to locate this, can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Staff

Ask a friend to search for taskkill.exe on his system usually in c:\WINDOWS\system32, file size 77kB. Maybe you can find it somewhere for download looking for taskkill.exe on google.
You have to put the file in the c:\WINDOWS\system32 folder.

I've got the exact same problem, installation has frozen up there at the end as described above. Is there a fix for this? There's no way I'm going to download or copy an exe file off the internet (from some other site) to place on my system, so we (those of us on this page) are effectively locked out until we can get this addressed. Thanks in advance.

(I'm on XP Home, working with a clean install, Drupal 6.15 and "the latest stack installer from December 17, 2009, Version 1.2.20")

I've escalated this (installer expects file that's not present in XP Home Edition) to Engineering. Awaiting feedback....

Posted on January 11, 2010 - 1:49pm by Michael Haag.

Windows XP Home contains an tskill tool which is a limited version of taskkill and is unable to kill process trees. So we've added a local copy of taskkill.exe to the DAMP package. It should appear in the next release of our installer. [I don't have a specific due date, but we do release a new installer along with every new drupal (and Acquia Drupal) release, so it's shouldn't be a long wait.]

likely a small number of weeks. More than a few days, though. So, if you're in a hurry to get DAMP installed on XP Home then I suggest you follow the suggestion above and drop a copy of taskkill.exe on to your system. I'm going to attach a copy from my XP Pro install.

Great - it worked!

Note that I do not see any link above except the one contained in your last email, the one immediately preceding this reply unless it's a forest-for-the-trees thing.

Note to you folks having similar issues: If you're like me, and you've tried installing this several times, you'll need to download that taskkill file, place it on your system as described above - and then be patient at that point where it says "This may take a few moments." Because you've seen this pane several times, (when it stalled out) you may start figuring its stalled again when it does nothing for several minutes - but, at least in my case, it does work - though it did take (I dunno) maybe 8 or 10 minutes. (As opposed to without the taskkill file when I let it sit for nearly an hour and it did nothing.) Bottom line, it's fixed! Thanks, Michael -

Is it your work computer? Is their an IT person or sysadmin who can replace that file for you? I don't think there's any way around having to do that.

Now that I've got Acquia Drupal installed, I repeatedly get "The website declined to show this webpage" when I click "Go to my site." I'm trying to install using a preexisting db and site files. Maybe it's looking for a password, I don't know. Any ideas of how to get beyond this? (Trying to sign in by adding "/user" to the url is getting the same response.)

Well... in the words of Roseanne Rosannadanna... nevermind. I reloaded the files and suddenly it works.
