Backing up Drupal websites - overview

A full backup of any Drupal website consists of copies of:

1. All files
   • Complete Drupal code base in its current state
   • All content, including any uploaded images, audio, and other media files
2. Database

When to backup your site

Always backup both the files and the database of your site before making any significant changes to your Drupal website.

Practice restoring your website from a backup to make sure you are familiar with that procedure.
