Acquia Culture in Action, August 2021

“We go further together than we can alone.”
The idea of togetherness may have been tested over the last 17 months, but this statement from our company DNA has held true. While we may not all be physically together, we believe that the strength of Acquia lies in our global community and we continue to invest in and build our team. Read on to learn how Acquians came together this month to learn, celebrate and inspire.
#JumpInAndOwnIt: Welcoming 80 New Acquians with Acquia Immersion
Over the course of four days this month, we hosted our company-wide immersive onboarding program, Acquia Immersion, to welcome 80 new Acquians to the team and help them align on our vision, mission and strategy. Not only did the Immersion program help build knowledge about our products and services, but it offered our new team members a way to build connections across regions, teams and departments. Acquians old and new came together for fun and competition during the program, with social events like Speed Meeting and Acquia Trivia.
#CommittedToAwesome Engineering Expertise
Last month, we kicked off our Engineering Bootcamp program for our new campus hires within the engineering disciplines to help them make the jump from academics to the “real working world.” This month, we celebrated the participants’ successful completion of the Foundations phase, where they gained industry-specific knowledge, understanding of engineering tools and strategy, and a spirit of teamwork and cross-functional collaboration. As part of this phase of Bootcamp, we broke the participants up into project teams and tasked them with a coding challenge where they had to use the technology and skills they acquired during Bootcamp to deliver creative solutions to a problem. Congrats to Team 1: Microservice Musketeers on winning the challenge!
#DareToBeDifferent: Product Lead by Day, Fantasy Novelist by Night
At Acquia, we love to celebrate our team of dreamers and doers, both in their professional careers and as they follow their passions outside of work. We are cheering along as one of our long-time team members, Aaron “Checo” Pacheco, who recently made his dream of being a published author come true with the release of his first novel, “The Trials of Ildarwood.”
#GiveBackMore with Wildfire Relief and Wentworth RAMP
Recently, Acquia hosted (virtually) 50 Boston-area students from the Wentworth RAMP Summer Bridge Program, which helps first-year students navigate the transition from high school to college. Acquians from all over the organization —from Talent to Sales to Engineering and more — shared their college and career experiences and insights with the students, in the hopes of helping them identify their own motivations and goals for college and their future career paths.

Recently, Acquian Neslihan Ozturk, organized an effort to help those in Greece, Turkey and Algeria who are suffering from the damaging impact of wildfires and floods over the past weeks. Through the generosity of Team Acquia, Neslihan was able to raise funds to provide a direct donation to a number of aid organizations in the region. As people experience national disasters worldwide, we are proud to see our colleagues continue to donate to causes such as the Red Cross and other environmental and humanitarian organizations through our peer-to-peer recognition program, Bonus.ly.
