Acquia Culture in Action, December 2019
Collection :
At Acquia, every day offers new opportunities to learn and make an impact. In 2019, we rapidly grew our teams and added new talent all around the world. We’re committed to customer success, and always investing own people who make that success happen. While Acquia has undergone a huge transformation this year, our core DNA and values that make up our company culture are the guideposts lead us along the way. See how Acquians showed their compassion, creativity, determination and positivity this month.
#GiveBackMore to Children in Need
Amidst this festive holiday season, Acquia's core DNA of #GiveBackMore is at the top of everyone's mind. We support volunteer activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live and work, as well as organizations assisting those in need.
For the fifth year in a row, Acquians in Boston worked with Wonderfund to purchase and deliver presents to children for the holidays. Armed with personalized wish lists, we collected and wrapped gifts for 250 children in time for the holidays!
Reading, UK Acquians braved the winter chill on a volunteer day for Sebastian’s Actions Trust, a charity organization that provides help to children in need and their families. This volunteer day involved decorating the charity's woodland site in Crowthorne for their annual Christmas celebration. We helped transform the day center into a mini Winter Wonderland.
#Teamwork with New Team Members
This month we once again welcomed a whole crew of new Acquians into the family after acquiring AgilOne, a leading customer data platform. Headquartered in sunny California, the AgilOne team are proven leaders in the data and AI space and have worked with exceptional brands such as Lululemon, Travelzoo, HarperCollins Publishers and Godiva Chocolates. Welcome to Acquia, AgilOne!
#JumpInAndOwnIt: Internal Development
One of our favorite development opportunities at Acquia is our Internal Mobility program, which involves a transparent process and allows employees to explore opportunities outside of their current role or organization -- resulting in professional growth, continuous learning and interesting new challenges. Acquians at all levels are encouraged to stretch their minds and explore different paths. Recently Sarah Korval, director of UX and design, switched roles to become a Director of Product. Sarah’s advice to current and potential Acquians? “Be yourself. The culture is amazing and you’ll shine through.”
For others looking to develop important career skills, we recently held a session on “Presenting for Impact!” No matter if you’re in sales, customer success, design or development, knowing how to speak in front of a crowd and captivate an audience is a valuable skill that we know will help all Acquians go far in their roles.
#CommitedToAwesome Festivities
Rise and shine! Breakfast and bonding helped us start our days off right this month. The Portland office held a team breakfast of waffles while Acquians in Boston began Day 1 of the Wonderfund gift drive with celebratory bagels and schmear. Our Support team also through a breakfast buffet and the smell of bacon certainly made everyone wake up on a snowy Monday morning.
Individual teams also came together to join in the fun. Boston’s Marketing and Business Development Reps exchanged presents in a White Elephant and our Talent Team complemented their annual holiday social with a Cookie Swap.
As we wrap up the year, we continue celebrating our success at holiday parties around the world. In Boston, we danced the cold away at Howl at the Moon while our India office hosted a Secret Santa gift swap complete with a delicious Santa cake. Portland also held a holiday party just four days after moving into their brand new office which was decked out in sparkly lights and garlands. Stay tuned for more festive highlights in our January edition!
Thanks to our spectacular teams, Acquia accomplished more in 2019 than ever before. And as we go headfirst into the year to come, we’re excited to keep creating new opportunities for growth, leadership and community support.
