Acquia Culture in Action, December 2021

2021 was challenging for many people, but through our resilience and flexibility, we’ve grown and strengthened our Acquia community this year. We reconnected with colleagues both in person and over Zoom, held virtual Speed Meeting events, welcomed our new Widen coworkers, learned from guest speakers and each other, volunteered together and celebrated milestones at the individual, team and company levels. 

As we enjoy this festive holiday season, our team came together for a few final celebrations before we close out 2021 and ring in 2022.

Rangmanch Performances #DareToBeDifferent

Our team in India kicked off the month with our second annual virtual “mega talent show” starring Acquians and their families. The three-hour event had Acquians putting on their dancing shoes and warming up their voices to share videos of their artistic talents outside of work. It was quite a spectacle to watch more than 180 Acquians participate in the fantastic showcase event and we love ending the year on a high note (pun intended).

#CommittedToAwesome Holiday Treats

Baking holiday cookies is a favorite tradition for many families, and that certainly is the case for our team. We hosted a virtual baking demonstration with King Arthur Baking to create classic cookies with a twist – chocolate molasses thumbprint cookies and whipped lemon shortbread cookies. We’re sure these will be a hit for any holiday cookie swap this season, but won’t judge anyone who doesn’t want to share their tasty treats!

New Hires #JumpInAndOwnIt

This month, our Talent Acquisition Team hosted a virtual meet-and-greet happy hour to welcome the incoming Business Development cohort to Acquia. The event included speed networking and games, along with a prize for the winner. The goal was to connect these incoming new hires with their peers, potential mentors and leadership in the organization.

#GiveBackMore to The Wonderfund

As the holiday season progressed, our Boston headquarters filled with holiday cheer and presents as our team participated in our 7th annual holiday gift drive in support of The Wonderfund. The gifts were delivered to 200 children engaged with the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF) who otherwise may not receive gifts this season. We had the choice of bringing the gifts to the office or sending them directly to the DCF, which made giving very easy. It’s an honor to see Acquians live up to our DNA of giving back more and help spread some joy to those in need.

#JumpInAndOwnIt with End-of-Year Games

Acquia departments are wrapping-up the year with some old-fashioned festivities. Several teams hosted virtual Yankee Swaps, which are always creative and fun. The global Talent team also hosted a game of “Two Truths and a Lie” that reminds us that part of the joy of working at Acquia is learning new things about our colleagues and celebrating what makes us each unique, as well as what we have in common.

A favorite of the Acquia UK team is celebrating the “holiday jumper”. With prizes for the ugliest, the furriest, the funniest and simply the best, the UK team came together to celebrate the holidays in a low-key way with festive mince pies, a quiz, and an award ceremony for the Acquian who “Made the Boat Go Faster” in Q4.

Looking back at the last month and the past year as a whole, Acquians had a lot to celebrate. We hope the celebration continues into the New Year and look forward to seeing what 2022 brings our team. Until then, we wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday season!
