Dries Buytaert Named CTO of the Year by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council
BURLINGTON, Massachusetts – September 12, 2014 – Acquia, the digital business company, today announced that its co-founder Dries Buytaert was named CTO of the Year at the 2014 MassTLC Leadership Awards, hosted by the Massachusetts Technology Leadership Council. Acquia led all companies with four finalists at this year’s awards, including Tom Erickson for CEO of the Year; Tim Bertrand, senior vice president of worldwide sales at Acquia, for Emerging Executive of the Year; and Acquia Lift for Most Innovative Technology in the Sales and Marketing category. In 2012, Acquia was named MassTLC Awards Private Company of the Year.
The awards showcase the depth and breadth of the Commonwealth’s vibrant technology ecosystem. Award winners were chosen from among nearly 300 nominees representing the best of the region’s tech industry. The CTO of the Year Award recognizes the one technology leader in the community who developed innovative technologies, supported measured successes for their company, and provided continued support to clients and partners.
“The MassTLC Awards celebrate the amazing work and innovation that’s happening across Massachusetts. It’s an honor to be recognized among the technology leaders in a state renowned for its legacy of excellence in technology, and this award is a testament to our team’s collective achievement,” Buytaert said. “Acquia is helping global enterprises deliver more contextually relevant, integrated digital experiences, driven by better website personalization and commerce.”
As Chief Technology Officer of Acquia, Buytaert leads overall product strategy and vision for Acquia. This past year, Buytaert led the expansion of Acquia’s SaaS product line to meet the rapidly changing needs of today’s corporations, NGOs, and governments. In addition to his role as Acquia’s CTO, Buytaert serves as the project lead for the Drupal enterprise web content management system.
“The 17th annual MassTLC Leadership Awards shines a spotlight on the vibrancy of the state’s position as both pioneer and leader in technologies that are fueling Massachusetts’ economy and changing the world,” said Tom Hopcroft, president and CEO of MassTLC. “Acquia should be proud of being recognized as among the elite innovators from the Bay State’s deep talent pool.”
Acquia continues to experience significant momentum in its business. The company recently achieved its 21st consecutive quarter of revenue growth. This November, Acquia will host its first annual customer conference, Acquia Engage, where executives from leading brands will share their strategies for winning in today's digital economy. Acquia Engage will take place November 3-5, 2014, in Boston.
