Pac-12 Networks, City of Los Angeles Recognized as Cloud Innovators by Acquia and Amazon Web Services
BOSTON – October 22, 2015 – Acquia, the digital experience company, today announced that Pac-12 Networks and the City of Los Angeles are the recipients of the Cloud Innovator Awards, co-presented by Acquia and Amazon Web Services (AWS). The awards were presented during Acquia’s customer conference, Acquia Engage. They recognize organizations that are pushing the frontiers of what is possible when building and delivering digital experiences from the cloud.
The Cloud Innovator Award celebrates those organizations that stand apart in their commitment to thinking ahead in a digitally connected world, one that is ever-changing and always being disrupted. They’re tackling big challenges related to customer and citizen engagement and finding ways to improve the lives of others by creating experiences that are relevant, personal, and readily accessible. Through innovative applications of cloud and open source technologies, they’re moving beyond static forms of customer service and unlocking high-impact communication and service channels that will evolve with the advances of wearable tech, the Internet of Things and more.
Pac-12 Networks -- the TV and multimedia company that’s wholly owned by the 12 universities in the conference -- broadcasts to millions over cable, and its digital on-demand channels have transformed fan engagement across the web, mobile, on-demand video, and even in-stadium experiences.
“Pac-12 Networks is a leader in digital transformation,” said Alan Nugent, CISO at Acquia. “When it comes to keeping fans more connected, loyal, and engaged, Pac-12 Networks leads the pack. Its success is enabled by a great strategic vision, a strong technical foundation that includes Acquia Platform and the AWS Cloud, epic sports teams, and millions of fans.”
With almost 4 million residents across 469 square miles, the City of Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States and one of the world’s true megalopolises. Recognizing the citizens of the city expect to engage with the city digitally, the City of Los Angeles met that demand by delivering responsive mobile access through a best in class user experience that is reflective of good government.
“Keeping a city of millions safe, informed, and engaged is no easy task, but the City of Los Angeles has successfully transformed its digital presence to better serve its customer base: citizens, businesses, visitors, and employees,” said Max Peterson, General Manager of Partners, Capture and Contracts, Worldwide Public Sector at Amazon Web Services, Inc. “By implementing a strategic technology stack with Acquia solutions delivered on AWS, the City is increasing citizen access to services and digital assets.”
Pac-12 Networks and the City of Los Angeles were acknowledged by Nugent and Peterson on the mainstage at Acquia’s customer conference, Acquia Engage.
